Don’t Back Down presents a tribute to Tom Petty’s, “Turning Point”

With Tom Petty’s Birthday coming up, the changing of the seasons and a renewed hope that things might get just a bit closer to normal, Don’t Back Down is happy to present its tribute to “Turning Point” — from Tom Petty & the Heartbreaker’s 1995 box set release, Playback.

This video is the second in a series of nine TPHB deep-cut tunes recorded at Don’t Back Down studios during the 2020 COVID-19 break. We especially had a blast doing this one — we think it’s one of Don’t Back Down’s best recordings.

We hope you enjoy it… and who knows, maybe today becomes a turning point for you or someone you care about ; )

Stay healthy, don’t back down and celebrate the music of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers!

About the track:

Turning Point was originally recorded during the the “Long After Dark” sessions in 1982 but apparently, Jimmy Iovine, the producer, decided to leave them off of the album because they sounded too “country” and did not go with the “rock feel” the rest of “Long After Dark” had — instead it ended up on disc #5, titled “Through the Cracks” in the Playback box set release.
